One-on-one therapy or
pastoral counseling
Many people benefit from therapy, and it may be
especially helpful for those who were victimized by
sexual, emotional, or physical abuse. Therapy helps with
marriage and parenting issues, substance abuse, setting
healthy boundaries, depression, anger, shame, and
working through uncomfortable emotions. The following
sources are provided in order to assist you in finding a
therapist in your community.
Project Rachel is a post-abortion healing
ministry of the Catholic Church. A diocesan based
ministry, composed of a network of specially trained
clergy, spiritual directors, and therapists, it provides
confidential, compassionate, one-on-one care to those
who are struggling with the aftermath of abortion.
The National Office of Post-Abortion Reconciliation
and Healing networks, researchers, and
professionals; provides training for care providers, and
maintains the national

Hope and Healing Growth Groups
Aftercare is an important part of the
healing process—assisting participants in moving forward toward deeper
healing in their lives.
Growth groups are available for individuals seeking to build life skills
of self-worth, self-care, and healthy boundaries—tools to live out the
Gospel in everyday life. Groups are led by Hope and Healing Ministries
staff and meet in the Iowa City and Davenport areas. An online support
group is also available to find hope, support, and encouragement as we
join together on a healing path.
