ADA Information
My Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
This new fiscal year brings with it
many new opportunities and challenges to us as a Diocese. Many of our
services, programs and projects continue to bring needed services to
people. It is the Annual Diocesan Appeal and your support that allow
these ministries to continue and grow.
The Annual Diocesan Appeal is the
primary way of funding such things as promoting Church life, life-long
faith formation and family life; advocating for those in need; and
fostering the wise use of our resources as we celebrate the Good News of
Jesus Christ.
I am committed, along with my staff,
the clergy, the religious and the lay leadership of the Diocese, to
serve you as together we grow in faith - rooted in Christ.
Most Rev. Martin Amos, Bishop of
Davenport
Text
of Bishop Amos' Talk

“...a shoot shall sprout
from the stump of Jesse,
and from his roots a bud
shall blossom.”
Isaiah 11:1
As preparations began for this
year’s Annual Diocesan Appeal, it was decided to design a logo
that would capture this new beginning and at the same time recognize our
roots. When we viewed the logo, some wondered why the cross was
buried. It is one of the crosses that appears on the coat of arms of
the Diocese. It is the cross of Christ. If we have died with
Christ, we shall also rise with him. Unless the grain of wheat falls to
the ground and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat; but if it dies,
it bears much fruit. The new plant is a “shoot that sprouts;” it is
part of the past and has a future. It is rooted in Christ. It is a
sign of who we have been, who we are and our hope for who we will be.
