FINAL TEXT OF THE ENGLISH TRANSLATION OF THE ROMAN
MISSAL RELEASED! This morning [8/20/10]
Cardinal Francis George, OMI, Archbishop of Chicago and USCCB President,
announced to the body of bishops that we have received the final text of
the Roman Missal. Implementation of the new text will take place, as
anticipated, on the First Sunday of Advent, 2011 (November 27, 2011).... As noted above, there are differences between the 2008 and 2010 versions of the Order of Mass... therefore, some catechetical materials may be slightly off... we will be making the needed corrections and post updated materials as quickly as possible. The upcoming third edition of the Roman Missal affords all of us the opportunity to delve even more deeply into the liturgy: What is it that we are doing and why are we doing it? More than just changes to words or rubrics, the new Missal calls us to a more profound engagement with the Mystery made present in our worship. The new Missal is our Church's next step in following the directives of the Second Vatican Council, which called all of us to a full, conscious, and active participation in the liturgy. See new information on diocesan formation opportunities below.

Federation of Diocesan Liturgical Commissions The FDLC is publishing a "Parish Assembly Kit" - which includes 3 pamphlets, as well as bulletin, website, and pulpit announcements, for use in parishes. The following resources are available from their website: Become One Body, One Spirit in Christ This interactive DVD is produced by the International Commission on English in the Liturgy (ICEL), and covers a wide variety of topics - from the scriptural roots and history of the Mass to the new translation of the Missal, from the art of liturgical prayer to living a eucharistic life. The DVD will be available for purchase through the USCCB.
LTP has published a set of brochures to hand out as well as a study booklet (and leaders' guide) to use in adult formation sessions.
LTP also hosts this website, which includes downloadable resources, advice on parish implementation, helpful articles, etc.
"A New Translation for a New Roman Missal" This DVD, produced by Midwest Theological Forum, is especially directed to parish priests. It includes a presentation by Msgr. James P. Moroney (former Executive Secretary of the USCCB's Commitee on the Liturgy and Executive Secretary of the Vox Clara Commission), interviews with Vox Clara members, and--especially useful for priest-celebrants--recordings of Msgr. Moroney praying the new translations of the Eucharistic Prayers. (Please note that it appears as if the final versions of the Eucharistic Prayers are slightly different than what we have seen in the previously-approved Order of Mass, so this recording will also be slightly from the final texts.)
Music Publishers Music publishers have set up websites to showcase revised as well as new Mass settings.

Preparing for the New Roman Missal (Revised 8/21/10) This series of articles was originally published in the Catholic Messenger, and included such topics as a look at liturgical languages and the process of translation, an exploration of concerns regarding the new translation as well as what we are gaining with the new translation, and an introduction to the texts for the Order of Mass--explaining what has changed and why. With the advent of the revised Order of Mass, the collection of articles has been revised.

Diocese of Davenport
Starting in November of this year, our diocese will begin a year-long process of preparing for the implementation of the third edition of the Roman Missal on the First Sunday of Advent: November 27, 2011. As our blueprint, we will be using the USCCB’s Parish Guide to Implementing the Roman Missal, Third Edition. As part of that process, the following opportunities are being planned for our diocese. Details will be posted here as they become available.
Clergy Overnighter (November 8-10, 2010) A day-and-a-half have been added to the November clergy gathering to go over the implementation process, review resources for parish use, and take a look at the theology and spirituality of the new Missal. A copy of the Parish Guide will be given to the priests (and PLAs) in attendance.
Chancery Workshop (Staff Meeting on March 16, 2011)
Deanery Workshops for Lay Leaders
Among the first steps in the implementation process
is for each parish to assemble an “implementation committee.” While this
might be the liturgical commission of the parish, it may be better to
gather a different group for this purpose—since the commission will
still have to attend to its regular responsibilities. Members of the
implementation committee could include some members of the liturgy
commission, musicians, catechists, school teachers, deacons, and others
in parish leadership.
Musician Workshop
In May, we will run two additional workshops for
those who lead music ministry in their parishes (choir/music directors,
keyboardists, cantors).
Registration forms and other details will be posted here in the near future.
The June Clergy Institute and Faith Formation Institute will also be devoted to the new Missal, and we will have a special workshop for deacons on June 25. More details will follow as they become available.

For priests and diocesan leadership, these workshops are intended to introduce the new Missal and explore the challenges of leadership in a time of change.
"Ever Ancient, Ever New: Preparing for the Revised Roman Missal" - February 2-5, 2011 The 49th annual meeting of the Southwest Liturgical Conference, to be held in Salt Lake City, Utah, will focus on the new Missal.
