Our Mission Statement

The Diocese of Davenport will foster the faith formation and spiritual growth of all persons based on standards of academic excellence which are rooted in Gospel values and Catholic Church teachings and celebrations so that faith becomes living, conscious, and active.

Therefore,

• All faith formation opportunities (parish, school, family) exist to teach and live the Gospel message of Jesus Christ

• Parents are the primary educators, and the parish and school are partners with parents in the faith formation and spiritual development of their children/adolescents

• Each person, regardless of race, cultural heritage, age or sex, will be provided with a warm, caring environment which fosters self-esteem, and helps to develop talents, skills and interests according to individual learning abilities

• The content of all faith formation opportunities within the diocese shall follow the curriculum guidelines set forth by the Diocese of Davenport, the Documents of Vatican II, and the Catechism of the Catholic Church

• All individuals appreciating the value of human dignity for themselves and others come together in liturgical celebration, and are called forth to establish a peace-filled, just, global society

About Catholic Schools

There are 17 preschools, 13 elementary schools and 5 junior senior high schools in the Diocese of Davenport. Students of our schools focus on educating the body, mind and soul. Students learns about their Catholic faith, how to live it by serving God and others in need, and receive top academic training in a safe, nurturing environment.

Everywhere you turn in Eastern Iowa you'll find green space and nature. Though many think of Iowa as being miles of corn fields, the terrain of Eastern Iowa is anything but flat. Wooded bluffs, scenic overlooks and rolling hills around in our river valley area. Miles of Mississippi River offer opportunities for boating, sailing, water-skiing and fishing from river beaches of riverside parks. Is Financial Assistance Available?

All of our schools provide opportunities for financial assistance. Thanks to the generous support of donors, we are able to offer financial assistance through the School Tuition Organization of Southeast Iowa (STO), Embracing the Future and Mississippi Valley STO. What is the School Tuition Organization of Southeast Iowa STO?

The STO of Southeast Iowa is a 501(c)3 organization incorporated under the laws of the State of Iowa.  The School Tuition Organization of Southeast Iowa serves nine school systems within the Davenport Diocese, representing more than 2,500 students in grades K-12.

The STO is a charitable organization representing two or more accredited nonpublic schools that receives voluntary cash contributions from Iowa taxpayers and allocates those funds in tuition grants to Iowa school children.  In turn, STO grants allow families who otherwise are unable to afford an accredited, nonpublic K-12 school, to choose a school they feel best suits the needs to their children.  Donors give the gift of school choice and receive a 65% State of Iowa tax credit.

At least 90% of the money received by a STO must be awarded in tuition grants each year, and no more than 10% may be used by the STO for administrative costs.  Donors may either give on an unrestricted basis or may restrict to one or more schools in the STO of Southeast Iowa.

What if my child has special learning needs?

The Catholic schools strive to meet the needs of all children. However, due to a lack of trained personnel and facility limitations, not all special needs may be met in Catholic schools. Through the services of the local Area Education Agency (AEA), the schools will work with the parents and students to ascertain the individual needs in order to determine if an appropriate educational program can be offered to meet those needs.
