About the Team:

With the assistance of Catholic Relief Services, the Dioceses has formed a Justice and Peace Advocacy Team (JPAT) to provide a voice for the poor and disenfranchised to our state and federal legislators.  The Team studies the issues, formulates positions, and plans advocacy so that Catholics are able to assure the "least of these" are ahead.  The Team meets the last Tuesday of each month, presently at 5:30 p.m. in Iowa City at St. Patrick Church, 4330 St. Patrick Dr. For more information please contact Loxi Hopkins or Glenn Leach.

Letter of support from Bishop Martin Amos:

Dear Pastors,

On May 21, 2011 I had the opportunity, along with Catholic Relief Services Chicago Regional Office, of helping to start the diocesan Justice and Peace Advocacy Team.  Parishioners from across the Diocese came for the initial meeting and training.  The enthusiasm and energy in the room were stimulating!
