  About the Program

The diocesan Immigration program is a non-profit program, it provides immigration counseling to help reunite families split by immigration, assists immigrants adjust their immigration status and advocates on their behalf. The immigration program focuses on family reunification immigration cases. 

The Immigration counselors are certified by an element of the Justice Department.  The Diocesan immigration counselors work wok in close conjunction with the U.S Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)

El programa de inmigración es un programa no lucrativo que proporciona servicios de consejeria de inmigración para ayudar a la gente con su estado migratorio.  El progrma de inmigración se especializa en la reunificacion familiar.

 

Las consejeras de Inmigración están certificadas por el departamento de Apelaciones de Inmigración (BIA). Y trabajar en estrecha colaboración con el departamento de Ciudadanía de los EE.UU. y Servicios de Inmigración (USCIS.

Diocesan Immigration Office site visits for Ottumwa and Columbus Junction:

The office is making site visits to Ottumwa on the first Tuesday of each month by appointment only from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. and for Columbus Junction the second Wednesday of each month by appointment only from 9:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. The office helps reunite families split by immigration; helps immigrants adjust their immigration status and advocates on their behalf. Sisters launch billboard campaign for immigration reform

Billboards bearing a message of compassion for immigrants in the style of the popular Messages from God promotions are on display in Iowa in preparation for the Jan. 3 caucuses.

Borrowing from a verse in Matthew’s Gospel (25: 35), the billboards read: “I was a stranger an immigrant and you welcomed me.” Sisters from 10 religious communities in the Upper Mississippi River Valley paid to have the billboards erected Dec. 12 — the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe. On that date five years ago, federal immigration agents investigating identity theft raided Swift & Co. meatpacking plants in Marshalltown, Iowa; Cactus, Texas; Grand Island, Neb.; Greeley, Colo.; Hyrum, Utah; and Worthington, Minn.
