Since 1895, St. Vincent Home has cared for children. As an orphanage, as a relocation center for displaced youngsters, as a residential treatment center for emotionally disabled adolescents, and as a child-placing agency through Catholic Charities, St. Vincent Home helped children in need. In 1973, the board of St. Vincent Home changed the focus of its child care effort, closed the institution and determined to broaden its services. It established the St. Vincent Home Corporation, which makes grants to organizations whose mission is consistent with that history. St. Vincent Home Corporation Board also provides oversight to SHARE, Iowa. SHARE builds community by offering grocery packages at half price to anyone who volunteers for two hours. Applications for Spring 2008The Saint. Vincent Home Corporation Board will meet in April to review recommendations made by the Committee on Funding Policies. These include changes in the application to make it simpler and more open to organizations and groups throughout the Diocese. The Board will also consider whether it would be better to have one grant cycle per year and announce a schedule and process as soon as these have been set. If you have already sent an application, it will still be considered for funding according to the new schedule adopted by the Board.
