The Office of Faith Formation offers a wide variety of formation opportunities for people throughout the Diocese.  We have material available for checkout through our Faith Formation Media Library, online offerings and in-person courses.

Basic Formation is designed for all individuals to gain a deeper understanding of their Catholic Faith.  Coursework may be taken for personal enrichment or one may pursue a Basic Formation Certificate from the Diocese of Davenport.  Those serving in ministry (whether paid or volunteer) are highly encouraged to complete the Basic Formation Process and obtain their Basic Formation Certificate.

Catechists are invited to register for courses through STEP at the University of Notre Dame.  Courses that will benefit catechists include:

• Foundations of Catholic Belief

• Christian Doctrine for Catechists I

• Christian Doctrine for Catechists II

• Christian Doctrine for Catechists III

• The Art of Catechesis

The Faith Formation Media Library contains a wide variety of DVDs, CDs, and study programs for use in parish faith formation offerings.  

The Diocese of Davenport has partnered with STEP at the University of Notre Dame to offer online formation for the people of the diocese.  STEP offers a wide variety of online courses in the areas of Doctrine, Christian Life, Church History, Liturgy, and Scripture.  Individuals may also pursue a Certificate of Catholic Theology.  Through this partnership, participants receive a 25% discount on courses.  Click here for more information on STEP.  Contact Colleen Darland for information on additional scholarships for STEP courses.
